Founded in Pennsylvania in 1993 by Beth Cross and Pam Parker, the name "Ariat" takes its name from the legendary race horse Secretariat, the triple crown winner of 1973, and, thanks to possessing a heart three times bigger than the average thoroughbred; Secretariat was, and is, widely considered one of the greatest race horses of all time.
