Product Description

The Waterford Loose Ring bit is unique in that it has many smooth flexible bumps or bubbles, which spreads the pressure over many points making it a light mouthpiece. Because there is greater flexibility, it discourages a horse from leaning on it.

The Waterford bit is a good choice for a horses that leans, it also promotes mouthing and salivation. The Waterford mouthpiece is made up of a series of ball links, making it flexible in all directions.

It has many flexible parts, which spread the pressure around the horses mouth, encouraging mouthing and salivating while deterring the horse from leaning on the bit. As there is nothing rigid for the horse to latch on to, the Waterford can be very useful for giving the rider extra control.

Especially on horses that tend to lean on the bit, set their jaw or take hold of the bit. It is suitable for most types of mouth conformation, including horses with large tongues. The loose rings keep the bit mobile in the horses mouth, promoting further softening to the contact.

They also allow immediate release of tongue and bar pressure when the rein aids cease, thus rewarding a correct response to commands. The Waterford is usually worn ¼ ½ longer than your traditional mouthpiece. This is in order to curl around the lips and maximise the effect.

Additionally, all bomber bits are made from blue sweet iron, because it:

  • Oxidises easily.
  • Stimulates salivation.
  • Helps bit acceptance.
  • Is warm and sweet.

Please note the blue will fade with use.
