Peter ‘Bomber’ Nel the man behind the Bomber brand, has a tried and tested technique for the bitting of horses that he has developed over the course of his polocrosse career. Bombers bits are now used by the upper echelon of show jumping, eventing and dressage riders throughout the world. Bombers bits are extremely popular and widely regarded for their capabilities in improving horses when ridden under saddle. The unique style of hand-made manufacturing and hands on development has led to providing bitting solutions that no other bit manufacturer can offer in a unique range of products designed to overcome particular issues riders are experiencing with their horses.
All Bombers Bits are made to the highest standards, assembled and finished by hand. The bit designs are then manufactured using different materials creating each range of products.
Bomber Blue Non-Metallic bit range Bomber developed the Bomber Blue material to be an alternative to sweet iron for horses that do not like metal in their mouth. The material was developed to encourage salivation while being light and comfortable in the mouth. The Bomber Blue range features an internal stainless-steel core for ultimate safety, with the special Nylon/Rubber compound material moulded around it to form the contact surface with the horse's mouth in different bit designs, to ensure three key attributes involving texture, durability and comfort. The internal flexible stainless-steel cable core has been injection moulded with a bespoke non-toxic, UV resistant, FDA approved flexible synthetic material. Bomber Sweet Iron Range The famous Bomber Sweet Iron range oxidises easily. Sweet Iron will rust when it comes into contact with the air and humidity, the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the horse's saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate, which in turn will encourage a better acceptance of the bit improving a dry mouth situation which provides little lubrication when the bit is in use. The process of rusting (oxidation) changes the blue colour of the bit surfaces to a brown/grey appearance after an initial period of use. The Bomber Titanium range. The nature of titanium brings a number of positives to the proven Bombers Horse Bitting philosophy; specifically for the horses who need an alternative metal material for their bit Titanium has an excellent strength to weight ratio which makes it provide almost the same amount of strength as stainless steel at 40% of its weight.
Bombers Bits Quality Assurance is backed up by their Lifetime Guarantee for the metal bit ranges. The Bombers Lifetime Guarantee covers all stainless steel, sweet iron and brass products from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product. Bombers will repair or replace at its discretion any manufacturing defect in these products free of charge. The Bombers Lifetime Guarantee does not cover damage caused by accident, improper care or inappropriate cleaning, non-standard usage, negligence or unauthorised alterations. The Bomber Blue range is not covered by the lifetime guarantee due to the nature of the material used. |
