The Hoggs of Fife brand of Rannoch boot is a very popular high quality hand crafted boot, made in the traditional UK footwear manufacturing county of Northampton using the Dutch Veldtschoen technique,The name Veldtschoen translates from Dutch to mean field shoe. It was created with the theory that if the leather of the upper turns outwards rather than inwards, it would direct unwanted debris and water, dependent on materials used, away from the foot instead of inside the shoe. Water resistance requires more engineering of the shoe which is not common practice today due to the additional work involved. Instead, the Veldtschoen is regarded more for its excellent durability, comfort, and attractive appearance recognised as more water resistant that the Goodyear Welted method. The thicker leathers, bellows tongue and waxy Hydro calf leather make this a comfortable, water resistant boot, with additional ankle support and protection providing great looks and performance in any conditions.
