Product Description

MB33 Myler Ported Barrel Medium Combo is a stainless Steel 3-Ring Combination Bit, The MB 33 Medium Wide Ported Barrel mouth piece is a Myler Level 3 bit.

Large 38mm high (1½ inch) port with no collapse. Independent Side Movement. Direct action bit, that has no collapse in its action. This bit offers the horse full tongue relief, and acts on top of the bars of the horses mouth. This bit is great for horses that are a little anxious in the mouth and it provides them with more warning around the facial pressure points it uses before the bit comes into action.
The MB 33 is the mildest Myler mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass almost completely under the bit. Because this mouthpiece does not rotate on to the tongue and the port is wide, it applies little to no tongue pressure, working primarily off the lips and bars of the horses mouth. The port on this mouthpiece is 38mm (1.5 inch) high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. Because the MB 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece and has a trustworthy and consistent disposition, which allows the horse to be easily trained to work off the leg and seat as well as the hands. The sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.

The 6" stainless steel 3-ring combination bit is a hybrid of a ring bit, shank bit, and hackamore and uses five different pressure points to disperse rein pressure. Because the noseband and chin strap are connected through the purchase, when the reins are engaged, the horse first feels nose, chin and poll pressure before he feels the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece can slide 25mm before reaching a stop, where it will then engage and apply pressure. The purpose is to give the horse an opportunity to respond to the riders rein signals before applying mouthpiece pressure. The combination bit has Independent Swivel Cheek and the purchase is slightly angled away from the cheek to prevent rubbing. The noseband is flat leather with knotted cord on either side and the chin strap is synthetic to avoid stretching over time.

Often used by showjumpers and event riders that need the complexity this bit offers a rider looking to improve the control of the horse.

Action: Indirect

Discipline: English or Western

Degree of Leverage: The 3-ring combination bit offers three different rein positions: the big ring, middle ring and bottom ring.
Big Ring = No leverage
Middle Ring = Mild
Bottom Ring = More leverage which gives a stronger action

Notes: If you ride with your rein attached to the big ring, it will function only as a direct rein snaffle and not apply nose, chin, poll pressure as a combination bit.
