Product Description

MB33 Myler Ported Barrel Pelham with its large 38 mm high port is designed not to collapse, while providing the rider with independent side movement to assist lift the acting shoulder which means the bit sides can rotate independently perpendicular to the mouth piece which helps the rider effect shoulder movement upwards through the rein into a more rounded outline without changing the position of the port over the tongue. It has a direct action with no collapse on to the bars and lips of the mouth. The design offers full tongue relief for the horse, acting on top of the bars of the horses mouth.

Stainless Steel Pelham, MB 33 Medium Wide Ported Barrel, Myler Level 3

The MB 33 is the mildest Myler mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass almost completely under the bit. Because this mouthpiece does not rotate on to the tongue and the port is wide, it applies little to no tongue pressure, working primarily off the lips and bars. The port on this mouthpiece is only 38mm high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure at all.

Because the MB 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a trustworthy and consistent disposition, allowing it to accept the riders leg and seat as well as the hands.

Notes:

The stainless steel Pelham is designed to be used with two pairs of reins simultaneously. The headstall attaches to the purchase ring which keeps the cheek stationary. The first set of reins are the snaffle reins, which attach to the larger ring adjacent to the mouthpiece. The second set of reins are the curb reins, which attach to the smaller ring at the bottom of the shank. Thios bit comes with a curb chain.

The Pelham uses both direct (snaffle) and indirect (curb) rein action using two sets of reins acting on one mouthpiece. Similar to a double bridle, which also uses two sets of reins, but the double bridle requires a snaffle bit for the snaffle rein and a curb bit for the curb rein.

The Pelham can be used with Leather D rings, a leather loop connecting the snaffle and curb ring to which only one set of reins is attached.

Action: The snaffle ring is direct rein action. The curb ring is an indirect rein action.
