The Neue Schule Starter bit is designed to promote acceptance and confidence in the contact.

The design of the mouth piece brings the contact onto the bars and lips of the mouth a little earlier than immediately onto the tongue. In young horses the evidence of discomfort in snaffle bits is usually due to the mouth piece bringing pressure onto the tongue quite quickly before pressure arrives on the bars of the mouth and with a snaffle due to the nut cracker action that can cause pinching as well. So not all horses accept a  snaffle well.

The Neue Schule starter bit improves on the snaffle action and turns this around by breaking the nut cracker action with the use of a lozenge, and then with the bits design profile it creates room for the tongue and bring pressure onto the bars of the mouth a little earlier before it impinges on the tongue area. When the rein is taken up the horse is not fighting to release its self from the discomfort and so the result is better acceptance of the bit and more relaxation from the horses jaw line. 

Although great for young horses the bit can work well for a variety of situations where are horse may be a little busy in the mouth and we are trying to encourage a quite mouth. Also useful for where a horse needs a change of bit to improve relaxation and assist the horse stretch out and seek a contact, or for when the fast release of the loose ring action is desirable. 

A gentle bit that encourages the horse to stretch the top line forwards and down into a soft consistent contact.

Neue Schule bits are cast using the precision lost wax foundry process to provide high definition and accuracy of dimensions using the companies own Neue Schule Salox® Gold which is a high copper alloy because of its high thermal conductivity and anti-tarnishing properties. This metal is designed to quickly reaches body temperature and so encourages relaxation and acceptance of the bit which is something stainless steel cannot do to encourage bit acceptance.
